SSD Cards and Readers

  • Internal Dual SD Module (IDSDM): The IDSDM is an optional add-on module that provides two SD card slots. It is designed to provide redundancy for hypervisor installations or other bootable environments. If one SD card fails, the server can continue to boot and operate using the other SD card. This module is typically used with VMware ESXi or other hypervisors to create a highly available boot environment.

  • vFlash SD card reader: The vFlash SD card reader is an optional feature that provides a single SD card slot. It can be used to store virtualization-related data, configuration files, or other information. The vFlash SD card is managed through the iDRAC (Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller) interface, allowing you to manage and configure the card remotely.

To use an SD card with your Dell PowerEdge R430 server, you will need to install the appropriate SD card module (IDSDM or vFlash) and compatible SD cards. These modules can be purchased separately and installed in the server, typically connecting to the motherboard through dedicated connectors. Once the module is installed, you can insert the SD cards and configure them for your specific needs, either through the BIOS/UEFI, the iDRAC interface, or the operating system. Installing SD Readers.
