Product Description
The HPE ProLiant ML350 Gen10 takes advantage of the latest, powerful scalable processors to provide a tremendous71% increase in performance and a 27% surge in core counts. This system is a very flexible platform and is capable of holding up to four double-width GPUs for creating a powerful and dense Virtual Desktop infrastructure, or to help with graphics-intensive tasks. For further resiliency and better performance, an optional storage cage can hold up to eight NVMe solid state drives. It can be tower mounted, or a tower to rack conversion kit can be utilized for rack mounting, to fit both this server and the HPE ProLiant ML110 Gen10.
This system can have one or two Intel Scalable processors installed, with the choice between Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum families, up to 28 cores. Each processor has up to six memory lanes, however for the total maximum of 3TB memory, a processor with an “M” designation is required, as those processors are intended to manage up to 1.5TB of memory each, while non-M processors only support up to 768GB. Keep in mind that Turbo Boost and Intel Hyper-Threading might not be available in certain processor models. Power is provided through a 500W, 800W, or 1600W flex slot hot plug power supply, available in either redundant or non-redundant configurations.
The HPE 2666MHz DDR4 Smart Memory delivers an 11% improvement in performance over 2400MHz memory modules, with 24 memory slots on the system board, with 12 for each processor. Each processor can support up to six memory channels, each taking two memory modules. For a total memory of 3TB, the use of an appropriate CPU with an “M” designation is again needed, and 128GB Load Reduced (LRDIMM) memory modules. To make use of Registered (RDIMM) memory modules, the amount is capped at 768GB, with memory modules of up to 32GB, working at speeds of up to 2400MHz. LRDIMMs and RDIMMs cannot be mixed together.
Storage capacity on the HPE ML350 Gen10 platform is large, with 24 x 2.5-inch SAS, SATA SSDs HDDs and 8 SFF NVMe PCIe drives available. For the 2.5-inch chassis configuration, an included drive cage on the lower side of the chassis holds 8x 2.5-inch drive bays. Plus, two additional drive cages, each capable of managing 8 2.5-inch drives, can be installed for a grand total of 24 2.5-inch drive bays. If NVMe drives are required, these are limited to the 2.5-inch chassis, with an Express Bay drive cage on the center of the system. NVMe kit contains two x4 Direct Attached PCIe NVMe riser boards, which each hold 4 drives, providing a combined 8 drives when both risers are present. For 3.5-inch drive bays chassis configuration, up to 12 front-mounted drive bays are available, with three separate drive cages capable of each handling four 3.5-inch drives. Every configuration contains a control panel on top, featuring system health, NIC status, two USB 3.0 ports, and an iLO service port, while the system also includes a standard security lock-equipped front bezel. Additionally, a single Micro SD card slot can be found next to PCIe slots 5-8, located beneath the power supply. A number of HD/RAID controllers are supported, including the integrated HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 SW RAID, as well as M.2 drives, enabled by a universal enablement card kit. Nevertheless, only one enablement kit is allowed, and M.2 supports only software RAID. Additionally, some configurations may require a redundant fan kit.
Finally, eight PCIe 3.0 slots allow connection for several devices, with PCIe slots 1-4 in the lower rear side of the chassis managed by CPU 1, and the ability to add GPUs in slots 1 and 3. With a second processor, PCIe slots 5-8 also become available, where GPUs can be installed in slots 5 and 7. Four double-width GPUs, such as Nvidia P4000, P6000, and Tesla P40, can be put in, as well as two Nvidia Tesla M10 quad GPU modules. Additionally, the backside of the system has an embedded four port 1GbE, plus other available options like 1GbE, 10GbE, 10/25GbE, and 100GbE QSFP.
