The HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 server is the data center's flagship system, offering superior performance and reliability within HPE's dual processor portfolio. It's one of the first ProLiant servers to support HPE's Persistent Memory NVDIMMs for enterprise-level applications and mission critical workloads.
Two Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 or v3 family processors can be installed in the DL380 Gen9, providing an impressive 23% gain in performance over E5-2600 v3 models. Moreover, it can accommodate up to 24 HPE DDR4 SmartMemory modules, offering an astounding 3TB of memory when filled with 128GB of DDR4 LRDIMM modules and HPE SmartMemory, which delivers an additional 21% boost in performance compared to non-HPE certified memory modules. Alternatively, the server can be configured with 128GB of HPE Persistent Memory, although the capacity is lower but with increased performance and data resiliency. Registered DIMMs are also supported, but can provide only up to 768GB with 32GB modules. 2400MHz memory speeds can be used, although this should be combined with a compatible v4 processor.
The DL380 G9 chassis has been completely redesigned with Universal Media Bay configurations for 8 to 24 SFF and 4 or 12 LFF drives, as well as support for NVMe and rear drive for additional storage and redundancy. It has an embedded SATA HPE Dynamic Smart Array B140i Controller for Boot, data, and media storage, and admins can opt for Smart SAS HBA Controllers for 12Gb/s access speeds.
