Product Description
Designed for High-Performance Computing applications in the data center, the HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 server supports dual 1st or 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors and up to 24x DIMM slots split evenly between the CPU sockets. This system is also compatible with a variety of SAS, SATA, and NVMe drive formats, allowing for a total of 12x LFF or 24x SFF drive bays. Expansion is enabled by 6x PCIe 3.0 x8 slots and 2x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots.
The ProLiant DL380 Gen10 supports CPUs with 4x to 28x physica lcores per socket, and can be equipped with either one or two processors. Single processor deployments come with a bank of four fans, dual processors come with a bank of six fans, and when the system is outfitted with a full complement of hard drives, it is recommended to use the six high-performance fans. Each processor also has six memory channels and can be fitted with two memory modules per channel. All 24x DIMM slots are active with both processors installed, allowing for a maximum of either 3TB or 6TB of memory, depending on the CPU, memory modules, and configuration. Compatible memory modules on this system include UDIMMs, RDIMMs, LRDIMMs, NVDIMMs, and Intel Optane Persistent Memory modules (PMem). It is important to note that mixing memory modules of different types is not supported, and that NVDIMMs are only compatible with first generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, while PMem modules are only supported using 2nd generation CPUs.
The ProLiant DL380 Gen10 is highly adaptable, supporting up to 190TB with the help of 12x LFF drives on the front of the system, as well as an optional mid-plane HD carrier that holds 4 LFF drives internally, positioned above the CPUs and memory modules. Additionally, a variety of optional rear-mounted drive cage options can be used to add additional SFF or LFF hard drives. Several chassis configurations are available, depending on workload needs. These include an 8 LFF drive chassis with Universal Media Bay, a 12 LFF drive chassis with an optional 4 LFF mid-plane or 3 LFF and 2 SFF rear-mounted drives, a 24 SFF drive chassis with an optional 6 SFF rear-mounted drives, an 8 SFF drive chassis with Universal Media Bay, + 2 optional front-mounted SFF or NVMe drives, and a 20 SFF NVMe drive chassis with partial population of box1 on the front of the system. An optical drive can be added with certain configurations, along with several different optional drive cages that can replace the expansion riser and accommodate 6 SFF, 2 SFF, or 3 LFF drive bays. The 8-bay chassis can be upgraded to 16 or 24 SFF drives.
To ensure maximum system performance, an HPE Smart Storage Battery may be required for the 20 NVMe drive option, and an embedded S100i Smart Array Controller is available with software RAID support and SATA ports for 14 drives. Moreover, two optional M.2 storage devices can be mounted in the primary riser, as well as an optional Dual Micro-SD module for fail safe hypervisor support. In addition to the 8 PCIe 3.0 expansion slots, the server has 4 x1GbEports, with a choice of HPE Flexible LOM with network bandwidths ranging from 1GbE to 40GbE or fabric with a suitable PCIe card. Up to five single-wide or three double-wide GPUs can also be installed for high performance computing or complex animation tasks. Furthermore, several HP Smart Array storage controllers designed for the Gen10 platform can be used for a full range of RAID options, and an integrated Micro SD card slot is situated on the system board behind the power supplies.
To assist in system management, the ProLiant DL380 Gen10 is equipped with HPE's suite of management tools including HPE integrated Lights Out (iLO) Advanced, HPE OneView, Runtime Firmware Validation, and Secure recovery which can roll back the firmware to the last known version that was not compromised. This system is sure to meet all your needs with its highly adaptable and flexible features.
